Modern is where technique meets theatre. At Hooked On Dance our Modern classes channel big energy into polished performance, blending contemporary movement, musical-theatre flair, and commercial choreography into routines that are as expressive as they are precise. It is the perfect home for dancers who love to perform.
Students develop strength, flexibility, and control alongside the dramatic vocabulary of the style — kicks, turns, leaps, floor work, and dynamic transitions. Just as importantly, they learn stage presence: how to tell a story with the whole body, project to an audience, and bring genuine emotion and confidence to every performance.
Classes are grouped by age and ability so choreography always meets the dancer where they are. Younger students build coordination and musicality through playful, character-rich routines, while older dancers refine artistry, complex sequences, and showcase pieces. Modern pairs beautifully with ballet, sharpening the technique that makes every other style stronger.
Optional AIDT examinations give those who want them a recognised qualification and a real sense of achievement, while others simply enjoy dancing for fitness, expression, and friendship. New students are always welcome, whatever their starting point.
